Standardized measurements of clothing have changed over the years. You absolutely can not get discouraged or pick a vintage piece by what the size is on the tag or any tag for that matter.
Remember, your body is beautiful and unique. Measuring your body can help you find the perfect size for your perfect, beautiful, one of a kind body!
Before you start:
Be sure to measure over the undergarments you plan to wear when you wear the item Keep your tape measure level and close, and don’t pull it too tight. If possible, have a friend or family member measure you – it's more accurate!

You can also measure your favorite dress, top, and skirt band to get an idea that way, but I suggest you measure yourself to find out your size:

TOPS
Garment Measurements: These are the actual measurement of the garment.

Bust - Measured from armpit to armpit across the front of the garment and doubled.

Length - Measured from collar or top of shoulder to the hem of the garment.

Sleeve Length - Measured from shoulder to bottom of cuff.

Shoulder - Measurement taken from shoulder seam to shoulder seam.
DRESSES
Garment Measurements: These are the actual measurement of the garment.

Bust - Measured from armpit to armpit across the front of the garment and doubled.

Waist - Measured from the narrowest part of the waist, and then double this measurement for correct sizing.

Hips - Measured the fullest part of the hips, and then double this measurement for correct sizing.

Length - Measured from the point of the garment stated description to the bottom of garment.
